General Terms and Conditions:
For all the above posts candidates should not have completed the age of 35 years. Age limits shall be reckoned as on the closing date of receipt of applications. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
Depending on the qualifications, experience and recommendations of the Selection Committee, the selected candidates may be placed in a scale and designation lower than the grade advertised/applied (in the same group)
All these positions are purely temporary and are initially for a period of one year. They could be extended/terminated depending on the continuation of the project(s).

Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) is a not-for-profit research institute that aims to conduct innovative research in unifying areas of chemistry, biology and chemical biology. We currently have a career opportunity for a Project Leader in Molecular Modeling of Computer-Aided Drug Design, starting Q2-2011.The successful candidate will employ CADD technologies in support of drug discovery project of an internationally renowned funding
organization. The candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary drug discovery team (Medicinal Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacology, etc.) at ILS, and collaborate with international partners. In this role, the Project Leader suggests and develops new approaches to the identification and optimization of the small
molecules hits as leads for a contemporary therapeutic target.
Qualifications: Candidates should at least possess a Ph.D. degree in computational chemistry or computational biology with at least two-year pharmaceutical industry or relevant postdoctoral experience, preferably
with CADD paradigms. Candidates should also possess knowledge and comprehension of role of CADD in drug discovery. A proven track record in the use of standard CADD approaches such as experience in protein
modeling, structural analysis, binding site mapping, docking and post-docking analysis, library design/ranking, and virtual screening). Demonstrate skills in the fields of molecular dynamics (knowledge and experience of QM/MM). Show know to how in the field of molecular descriptors, pharmacophore, fingerprints, and structure-activity relationships. Demonstrated expertise in handling/maintenance of large databases,clustering, QSAR, and ADMET optimization is beneficial. Strong programming skills in two or more of the following: C, C++,
Perl, Python, UNIX, Linux, and shell scripting are required. Should be self-motivated, proactive, and a team
player. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

About ICRISAT: ICRISAT is a non-profit, apolitical, international organization for science-based agricultural development. Established in 1972, it is an Alliance of centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), and supported by more than 48 governments, foundations, and development banks. To reduce poverty, enhance crop productivity and food security and to protect the environment, ICRISAT research focuses on farming systems and crop improvement, management and utilization of sorghum, pearl millet, pigeon pea, chickpea, and groundnut in the semi-arid tropics.
Responsibilities:
•Provide technical and analytical support to the project manager on all matters related to conducting, monitoring and evaluating experimental trials/activities;
•Collect data and maintain databases on indicators in the sub-project's consolidated action plan for use in technical project reports and publications;
•Provide technical assistance in disseminating and promoting good practices and lessons learned from various project activities;
•Help organize and coordinate trainings to build up and strengthen the capacity of local partners in carrying out research and extension activities for vegetable growers;
•Assist in developing training extension documents, materials and programs in coordination with project team members;
•Assist in the preparation of periodic progress reports, technical papers, presentations for meetings and annual reports as needed for donors, project beneficiaries, and team members.
Requirements: Master's degree in agriculture/horticulture; preferably with advanced studies or training on vegetable crops and marketing; At least two years of related work experience; Keen analytical skills and
ability to conduct, monitor and evaluate experimental trials; Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and also the local language of the respective states; Proficiency in the use of various
software applications (MS Word, MS Excel, COSTAT) and adequate knowledge and practical experience in handling variety evaluation trials; Ability to develop, manage and deliver products within agreed
timeframe.

3. Engineering (B.E. and B.Tech.) or B.Pharm graduates with Biotechnology as a subject of study and have qualified in GATE examination with a minimum of 85 percentile may apply for award of Research Fellowship subject to their qualifying in the written test/interview and award of fellowship by CSIR. The GATE certificate should be valid as on the date of joining.
4. Students with non-life sciences background (having master degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/Chemistry and B.Tech in Computer Sciences or other Engineering discipline) may also apply, if they have strong motivation in doing interdisciplinary research in Life Sciences.
5. Students with MBBS may also apply. Selected candidates should also qualify/obtain the Senior Research Fellowship conducted by the Human Resource Development Group, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi, to pursue PhD in CCMB.

Written Test and Interview : All the applications will be screened and candidates found suitable will be called for written test on 5.1.2011 at CCMB, Hyderabad. Candidates selected in the interview will have to stay for discussions on 8.1.2011 with Scientists at CCMB regarding allotment of projects for the Ph.D. programme. Traveling Allowance is not payable by CCMB and candidates have to make their own arrangements for stay, etc. at Hyderabad.
Candidates who have qualified in CSIR-UGC NET Fellowship or ICMR-JRF or DBT-JRF can alsowalk in on the day of the written test (5th January, 2011) at 7.30 AM in CCMB along with proof of their qualification for the respective fellowship. Mere fulfilling of the minimum requirements stipulated in the notification would not automatically entitle a person for selection. The decision of the Centre in this regard shall be final. Candidates who satisfy the following criteria only need apply:
1. Should have an M.Sc. degree in any area of biological/physical/chemical sciences including mathematics and qualified in the CSIR-UGC (NET) examination for Junior Research Fellowship. The Fellowship Certificate should be valid as on the date of joining. (Candidates qualified only for Lecturership in CSIR-UGC (NET) examination need not apply).
2. Candidates qualified in ICMR-JRF (under Life Sciences) or DBT-JRF examination may apply. Admission will be subject to their qualifying in the CCMB written test/interview and award of the Fellowship.
3. Engineering (B.E. and B.Tech.) or B.Pharm graduates with Biotechnology as a subject of study and have qualified in GATE examination with a minimum of 85 percentile may apply for award of Research Fellowship subject to their qualifying in the written test/interview and award of fellowship by CSIR. The GATE certificate should be valid as on the date of joining.
4. Students with non-life sciences background (having master degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/Chemistry and B.Tech in Computer Sciences or other Engineering discipline) may also apply, if they have strong motivation in doing interdisciplinary research in Life Sciences.
5. Students with MBBS may also apply. Selected candidates should also qualify/obtain the Senior Research Fellowship conducted by the Human Resource Development Group, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi, to pursue PhD in CCMB.
6. Upper age limit is 28 years as on 6.12.2010 which is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Handicapped candidates.

Research Associate Vacancy in Computer Aided Drug Design at Institute of Life Sciences Hyderabad
Discovery (CADD) group to work on the DST funded project, “Design, Synthesis, and Biological
Evaluation of Pharmaceuticallly Acceptable PTP-1B inhibitors”.
Research Associate
Fellowship: `22000 (basic) + 6600 (HRA) + 1833 (MR) = ` 30433 (fixed per month) inclusive all benefits for two years.
Duration: TWO year fixed from the date of joining
Responsibilities: The candidate will be performing molecular modeling studies assigned in the
project - designing, validating, and analyzing (a) SAR activities (b) protein-ligand interactions in
collaboration with the medicinal chemists and molecular biologists/pharmacologists. Main
responsibilities include computational studies and rational drug discovery applications. These studies
also include literature search, proper design and performing documentation, report and presentation
generation etc.
Essential Qualifications: (A) Ph.D. from a recognized university/institute in Computational
Chemistry/Biology with drug discovery principles as part of research work, or (B) Masters with
Pharmacy or Science (organic/physical chemistry) from a recognized university/institute with a
minimum 3-year research experience in relevant molecular modeling applications in drug discovery
setting is minimally required. Extensive applicative/usage knowledge in any drug discovery packages
such as BioSuite, Discovery Studio, GOLD, MDS, MOE, Schrodinger, SYBYL, MDS, and Sybyl is
highly essential; and, working experience with other cheminformatics packages like ACD/Labs etc. is
highly desirable. Working in team-environment with high morale is essential. Experience in
evaluation of protein-ligand interactions through docking, scoring, QSAR, SAR methods is essential.
Educational or applied synthetic organic chemistry knowledge with reaction mechanisms is beneficial.
Candidate should have extensive proficiency with Unix, Linux, Windows operating systems, MS office
products, and should be able to troubleshoot the HW/SW issues. He/She would be involved in
training medicinal chemists or early stage molecular modelers of the group in computational aspects.
Research Experience: More than 3 years with Masters’ degree or Ph.D in computer aided drug
discovery.
