Applications are invited for the following position in the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) sponsored project “Anoxygenic phototrophic bacterial primary productivity and studies on the endolithic bacterial communities of marine ecosystems” from qualified candidates. Candidates interested are requested to send their applications in the prescribed form (enclosed) to the P.I. (above address). Suitable candidates will be called for interview to appear before the selection committee intimating the date and venue. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

WALK-IN-INTERVIEW
The National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR), an Autonomous Society under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, is looking for prospective candidates for filling up the following positions under the project “Swath bathymetric Surveys of EEZ”. The positions are purely temporary on contract basis under the project mode, initially for a period of one year. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions are invited to attend the walk-in-interview at NCAOR
Research Scientist ‘B’
No. of Position: 03
Essential:
(i)Master’s degree in Geophysics / Geology / Chemistry / Physics / Marine Sciences / Physical Sciences etc.
(ii)2 years research experience preferably in Geophysical / Geological / Marine Science related field.
Desirable:
(i)Ph.D in the relevant field.
(ii)Experience in geophysical/ bathymetry data acquisition, processing & analysis.
(iii)Experience in Sedimentological /geochemical analysis of marine sediments.
Job responsibilities
To play an active role in work program related to the project: participation in scientific cruises: marine data acquisition processing & interpretation.
Total Emoluments: Rs.28,560/- pm (likely to be revised upwards)
Walk in Date: on 10.08.2010 (Tuesday) (from 9.00 AM onwards)

The project is tenable for three (03) years. Details of qualification, fellowship/pay, age etc. are as follows:
Junior Research Fellow (two)
Essential Qualification : M.Sc. degree in Life Sciences / Environment Science / Chemistry / Physics with NET/GATE qualification. Candidates having interest to work in the area of molecular biology and networking
model are preferable.
Fellowship : Rs. 12,000/- p.m., plus admissible H.R.A. and Medical benefit.
Age : Below 28 years (relaxable in case of SC/ST/OBC/WOMEN candidates only as per rule).
Laboratory Attendant (one)
Essential Qualification : Class VIII passed. Candidate having working experience in research
laboratory as helping hand is preferable
Consolidated Remuneration : Rs. 5,000/- p.m..

Ministry of Earth Sciences proposes to launch the fifth expedition in the ice free areas of the Indian sector of Southern Ocean. Duration of the expedition will be ~80 days. Launching of the expedition shall be in January 2011.
