FIFTEENTH NATIONAL CONGRESS ON CORROISON AND ITS CONTROL
National Corrosion Council of India (NCCI), a forum for effective dissemination of knowledge on corrosion and its control, is functioning at the premises of CECRI since 1990. NCCI organizes National Congress on Corrosion Control periodically, covering all aspects of Corrosion Science and Engineering, at important places, for enlightening and increasing the awareness about corrosion of metals and appropriate remedial measures to control it. There has been overwhelming response from various sectors for the earlier Fourteen congresses held at Karaikudi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Kolkatta, Hyderabad, Kochi, Goa, Madurai, Vadodara, Visakhapatnam and Mangalore. NCCI has also organized an International Congress on “Emerging Corrosion Control Strategies for the new millennium” at New Delhi, during February 20-22, 2002.

The Fifteenth National Congress on Corrosion and its Control is being organized at Chennai, Tamilnadu during 16-18 September 2010.

Applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens for filling temporary research positions of CSIR – Diamond Jubilee Research Interns at Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi.

Research Interns - RI

Educational Qualification
First Class or equivalent GPA in M.Sc in Chemistry / Materials Science

Maximum Age limit as on 22.06.2010
25 years. Relaxable upto 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Women and Physically Challenged.

Stipend
Stipend during Internship is Rs.11,500/- per month.

Tenure
2 years, from the date of joining and not extendable under any circumstances. Performance will be reviewed every six months. In case, the performance is not satisfactory, the internship will be terminated.

Terms and Conditions
The Intern shall have no claim for further extension, absorption or regularization in CECRI / CSIR after the expiry / termination of Internship. During the Internship period, the Interns would be free to appear for NET / GATE and secure regular fellowship for doing Ph.D.

Mode of Selection
Selection will be made on the basis of an objective written test and performance of the candidate in the interview.

Applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens for filling temporary research positions of Junior Research Fellows (GATE) at Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi.

Junior Research Fellows (GATE) - JRF

Educational Qualification
B.E / B.Tech Chemical Engineering Graduates, having valid GATE score without restriction of percentile threshold. (OR) Students, having valid GATE Score, who are yet to undertake the thesis semester of M.E/ M.Tech Chemical Engineering programme and desirous of pursuing PhD.

28 years. Relaxable upto 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Women and Physically Challenged.

Stipend
Stipend during fellowship is Rs.12,000/- plus HRA per month. In addition, a sum of Rs.20,000/- per annum is allowed as contingency grant.

Tenure
Tenure of fellowship is 5 years, within which the candidate is required to complete the Ph.D Degree (subject to satisfactory performance on yearly basis).

Terms and Conditions
On completion of two years as JRF-GATE, the fellowship may be upgraded to SRF-GATE and stipend may be increased to Rs. 14000/- per month in the subsequent years on the basis of assessment as per normal CSIR rules.
1. B.E / B.Tech Chemical Engineering graduates can get direct admission to Ph.D programme of University/ IIT/ NIT etc, as per the rules and regulations of the Universities/Institutes concerned.
2. Candidates, who are yet to undertake the thesis semester of M.E/ M.Tech Chemical Engineering programme may pursue Ph.D programme at CECRI after the award of M.Tech degree.
3. Candidates, who qualified to receive M. Tech degree, are not eligible to apply for the position.
4. JRFs engaged would be required to register for their Ph.D degree within two years from the date of joining, otherwise the fellowship is deemed to be cancelled and withdrawn.

Mode of Selection
Selection will be made on the basis of performance in the interview.
