Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in DBT research project entitled "Transcript profiling of salt and drought stress in foxtail millet (Sataria italica L) and cloning characterization of DREB2 homologue" and Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
in NIPGR "Short-Term Research Fellowships" scheme under the guidance of Dr. Manaoj Prasad, Scientist, NIPGR.
(A) Junior Research Fellow (one post): Emoluments as per project sanction.
Candidate having M. Sc. degree (with minimum 60% and preferably one year of post- M.Sc research experience on related subject in an R&D lab.) in any discipline of Life Sciences. Expertise in molecular marker
techniques along with basic knowledge of molecular biology background will be preferred.
(B) Senior Research Fellow (one post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms.
Candidates having M. Sc. degree (with minimum 60%) in any subject area of life sciences with two years of Post M. Sc. Research experience.
Experience of working with plant virus, molecular biology and genomics with international publications is highly desirable. The position is completely on temporary basis with maximum duration of three years.
The initial appointment will be for one year for SRF and upto November 2011 for JRF, which can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR may select candidate against the above posts depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate and reserves the right to relax any of the qualification(s) in case the candidate is found otherwise well qualified by the Selection Committee. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms.

Objective

About the fellowship

expenses on consumables, minor equipment, international and domestic travel, manpower and
other contingent expenditure to be incurred in connection with the implementation of research
project under the fellowship.

7. The Institution where the candidate is working would provide the necessary infrastructure and
administrative support for pursuing the research under this fellowship. The candidate will continue
to work at the place of his/her employment.
Duration
8. The duration of the fellowship will be initially for three years, extendable further by two years on a
fresh appraisal.

What is this all About?
To promote the goals of the Institute and to facilitate re-entry of scientists of Indian origin working abroad.
Eligibility: Applicants for this Fellowship should possess Ph.D., M.D., or an equivalent degree relevant to biomedical genomics, with an outstanding track record reflected in publications and other professional achievements. Applicants must not have affiliation to an institution in India. Awardees will carry out their scientific research in NIBMG or in other collaborating institutions.
Emoluments and Duration: Each awardee will receive a consolidated fellowship of Rs 75,000 per month and a contingency grant (not exceeding Rs. 500,000 per annum) linked to a project to be proposed by the applicant at the time of application. The duration of the fellowship will be for a period of five years. In case an awardee during the tenure of the fellowship finds a suitable job at any research institute/university, he or she will be permitted to relinquish the fellowship and take up the job.
Application Procedure: Each applicant should provide a Curriculum Vitae and the following:
(a) Summary of pre-doctoral training (with details of major courses taken and grades obtained) [about 10 sentences],
(b) Highlights of doctoral training and publications [about 20 sentences],
