Selection of candidates for awardal of studentship in the Bio-informatics Centre at CPCRI, Kasaragod.
Walk-in-interview is proposed to be held at the Institute for selecting students to do their project work in the Bio-informatics Centre of this Institute. The students pursuing their PG/B.Tech degree in Bioinformatics(Final Year/Semester) are eligible for selection. The terms and conditions of studentship will be as follows:
1. Students will be paid Rs. 5000/-per month out of the allocation under studentship of the Project.
2. The tenure of studentship will depend upon the duration of project work of the Student(s) so selected.
3. The selected students are required to work in the project on all working days.
4. All rights related to the software or database or any other items developed during the project work shall vest with the Bio-informatics Centre, CPCRI, Kasaragod.

National Training Programme on ‘Microbial Identification and Gene Mining: A Bioinformatics Approach’

NBAIM invites applications from scientists, technical officers, research scholars, post-docs and students of
universities/institutes/organizations for the National training programme on ‘Microbial Identification and Gene
Mining: A Bioinformatics Approach’ to be held from 1–10 September 2010. The training programme is
designed to provide an insight of latest bioinformatics tools.
The training will improve molecular identification skill of participants and familiarize the participants to sequence submission, homology search, DNA markers, in silico restriction analysis, multiple sequence alignment, phylogenetic tree construction, sequence data analysis, gene prediction, operon finding, gene annotation, comparative genomics, prediction of 3D structure and homology modelling. The training will bring scientists and research workers at a common platform to exchange experiences and will be helpful in upgrading research and teaching.
The training programme will consist of hands-on research experience, training and exposure to cutting edge research. The fees for the training is Rs 5000 for Scientists/Technical Officer (ICAR/SAU/CSIR/UGC), Rs 2000 for Students/Research Scholar/SRF and total number of participants will be limited to 20 only. Applications are invited for walk-in-interview on 31.5.2010 at 11.00 a.m. for three posts of Research Associate (RA), purely on temporary basis, at Education Division, KAB-II, Pusa, New Delhi from eligible candidates having
(i) Doctoral degree in any branch of agricultural / veterinary/related basic sciences or(ii) Master’s degree with
first division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average with at least two years of research experience as evidenced from fellowship/associate ship/training/other engagements. Knowledge of computer operation is necessary. Published research papers will be desirable. The period of engagement shall be
initially for one year only, which may be extended further time to time depending upon the performance of the individual and shall be need based. The selected candidates shall have no legal right to claim regular appointment in the organization. Women candidates are encouraged to apply.
Emoluments: For Masters degree holders, Rs.17,000/- per month and for Doctoral degree holders Rs.18,000 per month consolidated plus HRA as admissible.

What is this all about?
AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH SERVICE AND NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST EXAMINATION-2010.
1. Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) will hold a competitive ARS/NET Examination – 2010 as per the following scheme where two separate examinations will be held as:
(i) Prelim - ARS / NET Examination – 2010 to be held on 19.09.2010 (Sunday)
(ii) ARS – Main Examination – 2010 to be held tentatively on 28.11.2010 (Sunday).
The Prelim – ARS / NET is a Combined Competitive Examination for deciding eligibility for appearing in ARS – Main Examination as well as for determining eligibility for Lecturer / Assistant Professor in the State Agricultural Universities (SAU’s) / other Agriculture Universities (AU’s).
2. (i) Candidates clearing the National Eligibility Test will be eligible for Lecturers or Assistant Professors in the SAUs/AUs. Eligibility certificates will be issued to the candidates by the A.S.R.B. to enable them to apply against vacancies to be notified or advertised by the State Agricultural Universities. SAU/AU will consider their eligibility through interview or such other tests as devised for recruitment of Lecturers or Assistant Professors.
(ii) ARS – Main Examination will be held at a later date for filling up the vacancies of Scientists in Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in the pay scale of Rs.15,600-39,100 plus research grade pay of Rs.6,000/- in the
ICAR Institutes.
(iii) Candidates clearing the Prelim – ARS Examination only will be eligible to appear in the ARS – Main Examination.
(iv) The candidates clearing Main Examination will be called for Viva-Voce in the ratio of 1:5. The selection of candidates for Viva-Voce will be made on the basis of marks obtained in the ARS - Main examination. Candidates declared successful in the examination in ARS – Main Examination and viva-voce will be
recommended for appointment as Scientists in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in the pay scale of Rs.15,600-39,100 plus research grade pay of Rs.6,000/-.
