JRF Position in BRNS ProjectApplications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a Board of Research in Nuclear Science, Department of Atomic energy, Government of India, funded research project entitled
'Nonlinear optical studies of organic materials using continuous wave laser', under Dr P. Poornesh, Department of Physics, MIT, Manipal University, Manipal 576 104.
The fellowship tenure will be for three years with an emolument of Rs 16,000 per month for the first two years and Rs 18,000 per month for the third year. Further, there is possibility for the candidate to register for Ph.D. under Manipal University.

National Science Academies Refresher Course on Modern Biotechnological Techniques
A Refresher Course on ‘Modern biotechnological techniques’ for graduate and postgraduate
college/university teachers, will be held at Manipal Life Sciences Centre, Manipal University, Manipal for a period of two weeks from 10 to 22 January 2011.

The objective of this short-term Refresher Course is to give the participants a hands-on training on some modern biotechnological techniques and the theory behind them. A variety of teaching methods like lectures, discussion and laboratory work shall facilitate the learning process. The course will help the participants to gain and sharpen their skills on biotechnology. This training provides them necessary knowledge to boost their confidence in handling modern instruments used in the field of life sciences and modern biotechnology. The skills gained during this workshop will effectively fulfill their role as better researchers and teachers in teaching undergraduate/ postgraduate students. The course will consist of a lecture everyday and over 6 hours of practical/demonstration/hands-on training.
Teachers who wish to participate in the Refresher Course may send their application on plain paper with following details: name, age, date of birth, sex, e-mail, official and residential address, telephone and mobile numbers, academic qualifications starting from B.Sc. onwards, teaching experience, course taught, position held and a statement indicating their reason for interest in participating in the course and their expectations from the course. (Please do not send your entire bio-data.) Twenty five selected teachers will be provided local hospitality and round trip actual of bus fare/train fare (3 tier AC) by shortest route.
