PONDICHERRY UNIVERSITY

Studentship : Rs.5,000/- per month
Applications are invited for admission to DBT-sponsored M. Sc. Computational Biology to be offered at Pondicherry University, Anna University and Madurai Kamaraj University under Network mode.
Selections will be based on a common entrance examination conducted by Pondichery University to be held on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 33 centres across the country. Total Intake is 36 (12 per University -
Reservations as per GOI rules). Each of the selected students will get a studentship of Rs. 5000/- p.m. sponsored by DBT, Govt. of India.

Application form can be submitted online through the University website www.pondiuni.edu.in/admissions/regular Send the hard copy of application (in A4 size) along with the original bank challan for the prescribed fee to The Deputy Registrar (Academic II), Pondicherry University, Pondicherry

For Application Form by post, write with course name to The Deputy Registrar (Academic II) Pondicherry University, R. V. Nagar, Kalapet, Puducherry 605 014 along with a self addressed envelope of size 32cm x 25cm, stamped for Rs.90/-. Request for application must be superscribed on the envelope "Request for application form for admission..." (course name)
IN PERSON
The application form can also be obtained in person from the Pondicherry University Staff Co-operative Credit Society at the University campus on payment of the cost of the application form plus Rs. 10/- as service charge.
APPLICATION FEE
Application fees - Rs.100/- (Rs. 50/- for SC/ ST, exempted for physically and visually challenged candidates - supported with relevant certificates)

UGC-Networking Resource Centre in Biological Sciences

UGC-NRCBS, Madurai Kamaraj University invites applications from research scholars, post-docs, young faculty members and scientists of Indian universities/research institutions for the ‘UGC-NRCBS Visiting Fellowship’ throughout the year to conduct advanced research in Biological Sciences. The visiting fellowships for a minimum period of 1 month to a maximum of 3 months are provided to the selected candidates for furtherance of their research capabilities, for carrying out collaborative research or utilizing facilities available in UGC-NRCBS, Madurai Kamaraj University.
The visiting fellowship carries Rs 5000 per month, which can be availed in addition to the scholar’s/scientist’s own fellowship/salary from their parent institution.
The candidate is also eligible for travel allowances as per the MK University regulations. The details of available expertise, infrastructure, instructions and application form can be downloaded from the UGC-NRCBS website

UGC-NRCBS Summer School on Bioacoustics 14–26 March 2011
UGC-Networking Resource Centre in Biological Sciences School of Biological Sciences UGC-NRCBS, Madurai Kamaraj University invites applications from research scholars, post-docs,young faculty members and scientists of Indian universities/research institutions for the Summer School on ‘Bioacoustics’ to be held from 14 to 26 March 2011. The summer school will provide hands-on training on various methods of audio and video recording and analysis in bats and insects with reference to ecology and behaviour. Vocalizations by animals are used for species identification and phylogeny. The detailed instruction and application form can be downloaded from the UGCNRCBS.
Candidates should submit the filled in application form to Dr Sripathi Kandula, Convener, UGC-NRCBS Summer School on Bioacoustics, School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai 625021 . Applications should be forwarded by their research supervisor/Head of the department or Head of the institution. Applications sent via e-mail will be considered. The duly forwarded hard copy should reach within a week. The candidates will be selected based on the qualification and research interests.
TA/DA will be provided to the selected participants as per the MK University regulations.

International Conference on Genomic Sciences 2010
ICGS 2010, an international conference focussing on recent developments on the frontier areas of Genomic Sciences will bring together a multinational body of scientists and experts to deliberate on global developments in various fields Genomic Sciences and their applications in industrial, medical, environmental, food and agriculture sectors. It is planned as a major event to be held at Madurai during November 12-14, 2010 with a large number of active researchers from all over the world. It is envisaged that this conference would not only provide a unique platform to the participants from industries and academic institutions to share their thoughts and views to pave the way to develop possible linkages among them, but also serve the purpose of global networking among them and help in creating a nucleus of interface research.
Conference is aimed to cover genomic information on a wide variety of microorganisms including viruses. This conference also focuses on new technologies are to be developed and improved: functional genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics as well as more sophisticated experimental genetics, biochemistry, immunology, systems biology, mathematics and physics methods are included in this meeting.
