Interested eligible candidates are requested to appear in an interview in the room of the Secretary, Faculty Council for P.G. Studies in Science ,Tech. & Agriculture ,C.U., 92,A.P.C.Road, Kolkata- 700 009 for
the post of One JRF in the project entitled" Molecular Modeling Study of the Effect of the Glycosylation on Protein Structure and dynamics" funded by the DBT, Govt. of India under the guidance of Prof. Chaitali Mukhopadhyay ,Dept. of Chemistry, C.U. Tenure of the project 3 years initially.
Qualification required : the candidate must have a first class M.Sc. degree in Chemistry. ( Physical Chemistry Specialization will be given preference) and NET/GATE qualified.
Age limit: Not exceeding 24 years on 01.02.2011 . Reluxable upto 5yrs. in case of Woman /SC/ST/PH Candidates.
Fellowship Rs. 16000/- ( in the slab of Rs. 16000-16000-18000) + Adm. Allowance as per sanction of the funding agency and also as per norms of C.U. Rs. 12000/- will be the fellowship in case of NET ( LS) qualified candidates.
Interested candidates are requested to bring (i) two sets of complete application furnishing biodata on plain paper with attested copies of testimonials and (ii) all originals at the time of interview.
No TA/DA is permissible for appearing in the interview.

Project Leader of Molecular Modeling at the Institute of Life Sciences, Hyderabad
Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) is a not-for-profit research institute that aims to conduct innovative research in unifying areas of chemistry, biology and chemical biology. We currently have a career opportunity for a Project Leader in Molecular Modeling of Computer-Aided Drug Design, starting Q2-2011.The successful candidate will employ CADD technologies in support of drug discovery project of an internationally renowned funding
organization. The candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary drug discovery team (Medicinal Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacology, etc.) at ILS, and collaborate with international partners. In this role, the Project Leader suggests and develops new approaches to the identification and optimization of the small
molecules hits as leads for a contemporary therapeutic target.
Qualifications: Candidates should at least possess a Ph.D. degree in computational chemistry or computational biology with at least two-year pharmaceutical industry or relevant postdoctoral experience, preferably
with CADD paradigms. Candidates should also possess knowledge and comprehension of role of CADD in drug discovery. A proven track record in the use of standard CADD approaches such as experience in protein
modeling, structural analysis, binding site mapping, docking and post-docking analysis, library design/ranking, and virtual screening). Demonstrate skills in the fields of molecular dynamics (knowledge and experience of QM/MM). Show know to how in the field of molecular descriptors, pharmacophore, fingerprints, and structure-activity relationships. Demonstrated expertise in handling/maintenance of large databases,clustering, QSAR, and ADMET optimization is beneficial. Strong programming skills in two or more of the following: C, C++,
Perl, Python, UNIX, Linux, and shell scripting are required. Should be self-motivated, proactive, and a team
player. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
How to Apply:- Salary and emoluments are commensurate to the qualification and expertise but limited to the conditions of funding. The position is initially for three years and extendable upon mutual agreement and extension of the project. Division.
Two PhD positions are available immediately in the area of Bioinformatics / Computational Chemistry / Molecular modeling at Molecular and structural biology Division at CDRI.
Applicants should have completed a M.Pharm, or M.Sc. degree (Ist Division) in Life Sciences / Biophysics/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/ Chemistry or a closely related area and have an interest in
computer-assisted scientific research in the area of drug design.
Familiarity with Linux-/Unix-based computer systems is desirable.Our group is actively involved in research in the field of Bioinformatics,Computational Biology & chemistry with specific focus on Biomolecular
engineering, modeling and simulation studies, Virtual screening, pharmacophore perception, QSAR etc. and the applicants will be required to participate in the various ongoing project of the group and contribute to the
development and application of computational models to the design and discovery of molecules as inhibitors or chemical probes.
Strong communication skills, teamwork, creativity, motivation and a desire to learn are key qualifications.

Desired Skills: Good knowledge of protein structures with experience in use of softwares for molecular modelling and docking
Age: Below 28 years (Relaxable maximum of 5 yrs for SC/ST and 3 yrs for OBC candidates as per GOI rules)
Salary: Rs.16000/- per month plus HRA as applicable.
In case of candidates who have NET qualified for Lectureship, the salary would be 12000/- per month plus HRA as applicable.
The above appointment will be purely on temporary basis till the project is continued.
