Research Assistant (Breeding) for AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center - Regional Center for South Asia (RCSA)
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationalsfor the post of Research Assistant (Breeding) for AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center to be based at its office at ICRISAT Headquarters, Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited position.
About AVRDC: The World Vegetable Center is a nonprofit, autonomous international agricultural research center with headquarters in Taiwan and regional offices around the globe. The Center conducts research and
development programs that contribute to improved incomes and diets in the developing world.
About ICRISAT: ICRISAT is a non-profit, apolitical, international organization for science-based agricultural development. Established in 1972, it is an Alliance of centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), and supported by more than 48 governments, foundations, and development banks. To reduce poverty, enhance crop productivity and food security and to protect the environment, ICRISAT research focuses on farming systems and crop improvement, management and utilization of sorghum, pearl millet, pigeon pea, chickpea, and groundnut in the semi-arid tropics.
Responsibilities:
1.Assist in the conduct of laboratory, glasshouse and field experiments
2.Undertake plant hybridization activities
3.Data collection and collation
4.Assist in the preparation of research reports
5.Conduct work activities as part of a multidisciplinary team
Requirements: MSc in plant breeding & genetics/ plant breeding or related field with good academic record; experience in plant hybridization activities; strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English; Excellent computer skills.
General: The position is initially for one year, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.

WALK-IN INTERVIEW
The Principal Scientist and Head intends to recruit one Senior Research Fellow in DBT funded project purely on contractual basis. The interview of eligible candidates for the above posts will be held at IARI-Regional Station, Residency Area, (Near College of Agriculture), INDORE–452 001 (M.P.).
DBT-funded Project titled, “Molecular marker assisted development of biotic stress resistant wheat varieties”
Age limit: Maximum age 35 years (age relaxation of five years for SC/ST and women, and three years for OBC candidates).
Essential qualification : Post Graduate degree (M.Sc. Agric. or M.Sc. or M.Tech.) in Biotechnology or M.Sc. Agric. in Genetics / Plant Breeding.
Desirable: Experience in the use of molecular markers in crop improvement and working knowledge of computer applications.
Emoluments: Rs. 14,000/- + 20% HRA per month as per rules.
Interested candidates satisfying the essential qualifications may come for the interview with a copy of the bio-data, original and attested copies of all certificates, recent copy of passport size photograph, etc. for each post. The above post are purely temporary and will be filled on contractual basis initially for a period of one year but may be extended on year-to-year basis, based on performance of the candidates. The candidates shall not claim for regular appointment at this Institute, as the post are co-terminus with the respective projects. No TA/ DA will be paid for attending the interview. Only the candidates having essential qualification would be entertained for the interview.
