The Radio Astronomy Centre (RAC) is an Observatory of the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Pune and a field station of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). RAC operates the large Ooty Radio Telescope. RAC invites applications for the following project posts available at Udhagamandalam.
1. Senior Research Fellows (2 posts, tenure 3 years) (extension after first year subject to satisfactory performance)
First class M.Sc. (Physics) with good academic record, sound knowledge in physical sciences and motivation for research.Candidates must qualify in NET/GATE examination. Candidates with experience of research in solar physics and related areas are preferred. Knowledge of computer programming skills desirable.
Fixed stipend: Rs 14,000 p.m. Age: below 28 years.
2. Junior Research Fellow (1 post, tenure 3 years) (extension after first year subject to satisfactory performance)
First class M.Sc. (Physics) with good academic record, sound knowledge in physical sciences and motivation for research.NET/GATE qualified candidates are preferred. Knowledge of computer programming skills desirable.
Fixed stipend: Rs 12,000 p.m.
Age: below 25 years.
3. Project Assistant (1 post, tenure 3 years)
Three-year fixed term post on a consolidated monthly pay of Rs 8500 + HRA at applicable rates.
A higher compensation may be considered for outstanding candidates. B.Sc. Degree/Diploma in Physics with 3 years experience/ITI (Electronics) with over 7 years experience in making observations using Radio Telescope and its associated receiver systems. Good knowledge the about the quality of the observed data and interference, data transfer and backing up in DOS and Linux machines.
4. Graduate Trainee (1 post, tenure 2 years) Fresh first class M.Sc. (Physics/Electronics) or B.E. (Electronics)
Training areas: Analog and digital instrumentation, development of software, data acquisition and analysis. Fixed stipend: Rs 9000 for first year and Rs 10,000 for second year.
Age: below 25 years.

If suitable candidates are not available for the post of senior research fellow, it may be converted to junior research fellow.
