WALK-IN-INTERVIEW FOR SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (One Post) UNDER DST PROJECT
DST Project entitled “Characterization of the specific polypeptide(s) in Culex quinquefasciatus (Filariasis vector) causing resistance against biopesticides in mosquito vector control”.
Qualifications
(i) Essential: Master’s degree in Zoology/Entomology/Life Sciences/ Biotechnology/Microbiology with a minimum of 55% of marks and two years of research experience in relevant field.
(ii) Desirable: 1.
Hands on experience in molecular biological techniques applicable to isolation and characterization of biological molecules.
2. Candidates who have been declared successful at NET/GATE.
3. Qualified in the Entrance examination conducted by Pondicherry University 2009-10 for Ph.D Admission.
Job requirement: To conduct research in the field of characterization of polypeptide (s) in mosquitoes causing resistance against bio-pesticides.
Salary: Rs.14,000/-p.m. (Consolidated) + HRA admissible as per existing DST Guidelines.
Age limit: Below 35 years and relaxable for SC/ST and OBC Candidates, as per Govt. of India rules in force.
Venue: Vector Control Research Centre (ICMR), Indira Nagar, Medical Complex, Pondicherry-605006.
Interview Date: 26th May 2010 between 9-00 AM TO 12.00 NOON

What is this all About?
Applications are invited upto 12th MARCH 2010 for one post of Scientist ‘C’ under ICMR Research Cadre at Vector Control Research Centre, Puducherry in the Pay Band scale of Rs.15,600-39,100 + Grade Pay of Rs.6600 and other allowances as admissible under Government of India Rules. Essential:
(i) First Class Master’s Degree in Zoology/Entomology/Life Science
(ii) Four years of R & D experience in the area of Vector biology, ecology and control of vectors/vector borne diseases, after obtaining essential qualification (i).
Desirable: (i) Doctorate Degree in Zoology/Entomology/Life Science for candidates having First Class Master’s Degree.
Experience in conducting studies on vectors of medical / public health importance with reference to bionomics, biology and ecology for understanding vector borne disease transmission dynamics and for designing vector control strategies; Organizing National/International training programmes on Vectors and Vector Borne Diseases.
(ii) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in relevant subjects in recognized Institute(s).
(iii) Knowledge in Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools/Data Management
NOTE :
1. PhD or MD Degree in subjects relevant to Indian Council of Medical Research shall be treated equivalent to three years experience respectively.
2. Candidates with MD or Ph. D will be preferred for Direct Recruitment
Job requirement:
(i) To carry out research on Vector ecology and control/management.
(ii) To assist in executing research projects on the development and demonstration of vector control strategies.
(iii) To participate in the investigation of vector borne disease outbreaks/epidemics.
(iv) To assist in teaching/training programmes of the Centre.
