PhD oppurtunities in Genetics and Genomics at CGMCP, University of Delhi

What is this all about?
University of Delhi,South Campus, Benito Juarez Road, New Delhi 110 021
Doctoral Research Opportunities on Brassica genetics and genomics at the Department of Genetics and the Centre for Genetic Manipulation of Crop Plants (CGMCP), University of Delhi, South Campus. Students interested in doctoral work in the following broad areas could apply:
1. Genetics of seed size and oil content in Brassica juncea (oilseed mustard).
2. Mapping and identification of loci in Brassica species conferring resistance to different isolates of
white rust (Albugo candida).
3. Molecular characterization of gene(s) involved with conferring resistance to Alternaria brassicae in
model crucifer Arabidopsis thaliana.
4. Variability amongst isolates of Alternaria bassicae (blight), Albugo candida (white rust) and
Sclerotimia sclerotiorum (stem rot) using molecular markers and through the use of varietal and
species differentiation.

Who Can Apply?

Students with M.Sc. in biotechnology or plant sciences are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of
genetics and plant breeding and plant pathology and interest in crop breeding will be useful. Students
with B.Tech. in biotechnology from well recognized colleges and interest in bioinformatics are also
encouraged to apply.

Please contact Dr Jagreet Kaur (jagreetk@yahoo.com), Prof. Akshay Pradhan (pradhancgmcp@
gmail.com) or Prof. Deepak Pental (dpental@gmail.com) for more details and information on the
ongoing research. Interested candidates are requested to apply within a month.

CGMCP has been recognized as Centre of Excellence by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and
funded by DBT and Mother Dairy Fruit and Vegetable Private Limited (MDFVPL). Extensive research
facilities, genetic and genomic resources are available.
