JRF/SRF/Project Assistant Vacancies in Radio Physics at University of Calcutta | ISRO Sponsored

Interested and eligible candidates are requested to appear before a Selection Committee on August 11, 2010 at 12 noon in the room of the Secretary, Faculty Council for P.G. Studies in Science, Technology and Agriculture, C.U., 92, A.P.C. Road Kolkata -700 009 for the following posts in the Research Projects sponsored by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) at the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics under S.K. Mitra Centre for Research in Space Environment.
(i) One JRF and one SRF for the project “Studies of Space Weather Events with GPS, Satellite Beacon and Backscattered Radar at NARL” under the supervision of Dr. Ashik Paul.
(ii) One JRF for the project “Studies on Solar Control on Indian Summer Rainfall and Associated Atmospheric Water Vapour Content and Cloud Liquid Water Content” under the supervision of Prof. Animesh Maitra.
(iii) One JRF and one Project Assistant for the project “Studies on Aerosol Environment at Kolkata Located Near the Land-Ocean Boundary as a Part of ARFI Network under ISRO-GBP” under the supervision of Prof. Animesh Maitra.
Minimum qualifications for JRF and SRF is M. Tech. Degree in Radio Physics and Electronics or equivalent/ M. Sc. in Physics with Electronics as a special subject/ M. Sc. in Electronic Science/ M. Sc. in Atmospheric Science. For SRF, additionally, the applicants should have two years of research experience in the relevant area with publications in refereed Journals.
Minimum qualification for Project Assistant is B. Tech. Degree in Radio Physics and Electronics or equivalent/ M. Sc. in Physics with Electronics as a special subject/ M. Sc. in Electronic Science/ M. Sc. in Atmospheric Science. Remunerations will be as per the sanction of the Funding Agency and the norms of the
University. Upper age limit is (i) 28 years for JRF and Project Assistant, (ii) 32 years for SRF, as
on 01.08.2010, relaxable up to 5 years for Woman / SC / ST candidates. The tenure of the JRF
and Project Assistant is one year at present but is likely to be continued till the end of the project.
The post of SRF is tenable for a maximum period of two years.
Candidates willing to appear in the interview must bring (i) All originals of the testimonials, and
(ii) Two sets of complete applications furnishing biodata on a plain paper enclosing all attested
copies of testimonials. No TA/DA is permissible for the interview.
